The European Student Card (ESC) is a unified digital ID for students across Europe, created to streamline student mobility and simplify administrative processes. This card helps students verify their identity easily, access university services, and supports the European Education Area's goal of creating a seamless digital experience for higher education students.
For card issuers, the European Student Card streamlines processes by removing the need for new cards for Erasmus+ students, enhancing security with real-time student status validation.
For students, the ESC simplifies studying abroad by allowing them to use their existing student card across Europe, accessing on- and off-campus services, discounts, and opportunities without needing a new card.
The ESC functions through the ESC Router. This is the digital backbone of the European Student Card system. It enables institutions to validate and manage student data, allowing for seamless integration of ESC features into physical or digital student cards.
The European Student Card is designed with several key features to ensure its authenticity, security, and functionality.
European Student Identifier (ESI)
